My Experience and Recovery from a Mastopexy (Breast Lift) with Implants Surgery

A Little Background About Me (and My Boobies)
As a 38-year-old woman, I can confidently say that my boobs and I have been through all the sizes. From a 36F minimizer to a 32B with padding and push-up I’ve truly seen it all.
After pregnancy, weight changes, and a full year of breastfeeding, I knew one thing for sure: my breasts weren’t going back to where they used to be on their own.
For the first time in my adult life, I finally felt like I was at my ideal weight—and ready to do something for myself. No amount of workouts or push-up bras could restore what I had lost.
So I made the decision: it was time.
I was ready to restore, lift, and finally feel confident again.
The Consultation
I’ll be honest surgery itself didn’t scare me.
What did? Standing topless in front of strangers while talking about my insecurities.
That fear alone delayed me for years.
But eventually, I took the first step and booked the consultation.
When I arrived, everything immediately felt different than I expected. Instead of a cold, clinical room, I was welcomed into a warm, softly lit space. I was given a cozy robe and even offered sparkling water.
That small detail alone helped calm my nerves.
The photo process was quick and surprisingly comfortable. Before I even had time to feel self-conscious, it was done.
Then I met Dr. Capraro.
His calm, non-judgmental presence instantly put me at ease. He walked me through everything using visual tools, which made it easy to understand my options.
After reviewing my photos, he recommended:
- Bilateral mastopexy (breast lift)
- Silicone implants
We discussed sizing and landed between 210cc and 295cc—just enough to enhance, not dramatically increase.
What stood out most was how personalized everything felt. He didn’t just talk at me—he took time to understand my lifestyle and expectations.
For the first time, I felt completely confident in my decision.
Pre-Operative Testing
Two weeks before surgery, I completed all required testing:
- Mammogram
- Physical exam (surgical clearance)
- Bloodwork and labs
Everything was surprisingly quick and efficient. Within one lunch break, I had checked everything off my list.
Consent Appointment & Prep
About 10 days before surgery, I met with Livie to go over:
- Medications
- Recovery instructions
- Post-op care
She was incredibly thorough and made sure I felt fully prepared.
That same day:
- I picked up all prescriptions
- Ordered recovery essentials
- Bought comfortable post-surgery clothing
Preparation became my focus and honestly, it helped ease my nerves.
The Day Before Surgery
The day before surgery included:
- Pre-op markings
- IV therapy (vitamins + nutrients)
This was designed to support healing and reduce post-anesthesia effects.
That evening, my anesthesiologist personally called me to walk through what to expect.
That level of care meant everything.
I also set up a recovery station at home with:
- Medications
- Water
- Snacks
- Pill tracker
I wanted everything within reach, and it paid off.
Surgery Day
I woke up early, showered, and wore a comfortable outfit.
At the surgery center:
- Vitals were checked
- IV started
- Final prep completed
At 8am, I was ready.
I remember being told I’d feel “a little loopy”…
…and then nothing.
Waking Up After Surgery
It felt like I had been asleep for two minutes.
In reality? Six hours had passed.
I had:
- No pain
- Just extreme drowsiness
And then I heard the words I had been waiting for:
“Everything went perfectly.”
The First 24 Hours
Back home, I felt:
- Very tired
- Slightly wobbly
- Completely pain-free
I stayed on schedule with medications and slept most of the day.
My recovery setup made everything easier.
Post-Op Day 1
At my first follow-up, I finally saw my results.
Even with swelling, I noticed:
- Immediate lift
- Minimal bruising
I was honestly shocked.
Post-Op Day 2–3
By day two:
- I was showering
- Walking outside
- Feeling more like myself
By day three:
- Appetite returned
- Energy improved
- Light activity felt natural
I just had to remind myself not to overdo it.
Week 1
At one week:
- Healing was on track
- Swelling still present
- Transition bras introduced
I was already seeing progress and feeling more confident.
Week 3 (The Hardest Week)
Surprisingly, week three was the most challenging.
I experienced:
- Soreness
- “Zingers” (nerve sensations)
- Increased awareness of movement
It wasn’t painful—but it reminded me my body was still healing.
Week 4–6
Things improved steadily:
- Less soreness
- Implants settling
- Cleared for more activity
At 6 weeks:
- Light exercise resumed
- Normal routines slowly returned
Week 8: Feeling Like Myself Again
At 8 weeks, something clicked.
For the first time:
- My breasts felt natural
- They looked fully “mine”
I wore a regular bra—and felt amazing.
Final Thoughts
This journey was more than physical—it was emotional.
My breasts continue to evolve, but even now:
- Clothes fit better
- Confidence is higher
- I feel lighter—physically and mentally
I went into this hoping for subtle improvement.
What I got was a complete transformation in how I feel about myself.
If I could change one thing?
I would have done it sooner.
